A white or almost white powder


Freely soluble in water, soluble in ethanol (95 %) and in methanol. It dissolves in dilute solutions of alkali hydroxides.

Identification by :

I) I.R Spectrophotometry

IR absorption spectrum of the sample in potassium bromide dispersion is concordant with similarly recorded spectrum of Levocetirizine hydrochloride WS or with the reference spectrum of Levocetirizine hydrochloride.

II) U.V Spectrophotometry

Scanning in the UV range of 200 nm to 350 nm of 0.001 %w/V solution of sample in methanol shows absorption maximum at about 230 nm.
